simple-tests

This module exports some macros and procedures which help in debugging and testing. Most of the code is a straight-forward port of Peter Seibel's test suite in "Practical Common Lisp" to Chicken Scheme.

The routines

simple-tests

[procedure] (simple-tests)

documentation-procedure; returns the list of exported symbols.

compound-test

[syntax] (compound-test (name) test ...)

This is the obligatory wrapper around each individual test predicate. Runs each test (usually created by define-test) in sequence and prints the results of each as well as a combined result. Exits with 0 or 1 depending on success or failure.

simple-test

[syntax] (simple-test (name) xpr ...)

runs each test expression, xpr, and prints success or failure as well as a summary, all prefixed with name. This macro is deprecated. Use compound-test instead.

define-test

[syntax] (define-test (name . parameters) . forms)

creates a test predicate, (name . parameters), to be called within compound-test. That predicate will test and report the results of all of its form arguments.

check

[syntax] (check xpr . xprs)

returns a unary procedure with location argument, which checks each of its xpr arguments and reports it.

xpr:val

[syntax] (xpr:val xpr ...)

prints each xpr and its value in interpreted code.

and?

[syntax] (and? xpr . xprs)

non-short-circuated and, which executes all side-effects.

pe

[procedure] (pe macro-code)

pretty-prints expanded macro-code.

group-on-cdrs

[procedure] (group-on-cdrs alist)

group an associated list into sublists with equal cdrs. To be used for failure reporting in compound-test.

*locations*

global dynamic variable controlling location of possibly nested tests.

*failures*

global variable collecting failure information

Example

(use simple-tests)

(define-test (+?)
	(check
		(= (+ 1 2) 3)
		(= (+ 1 2 3) 6)))

(define-test (*?)
	(check
		(= (* 1 2) 2)
		(= (* 1 2 3) 6)))

(define-test (arithmetic?)
	(+?)
	(*?))

(compound-test (simple-tests)
  (arithmetic?))
