lowdown

Lowdown is a pure Chicken Scheme Markdown parser library. It's mostly a port of John MacFarlane's Markdown PEG to comparse parser combinators. Unlike the discount parser (and the original Markdown.pl for that matter) it passes all 22 tests of the MarkdownTest suite (version 1.0.3) and emits SXML rather than a serialized HTML string. This allows for flexible post-processing of the parse result using, for example, sxml-transforms.

API

[procedure] (markdown->sxml input)

Parses the Markdown formatted input and returns an SXML representation of the resulting HTML document. input may be a string, an input port or a list of characters.

[procedure] (markdown->sxml* input)

Parses the Markdown formatted input and returns an SXML representation of it. input may be a string, an input port or a list of characters.

[procedure] (markdown-sxml->html-sxml markdown-sxml)

Turns the markdown-sxml structure as returned by markdown->sxml* into an SXML structure as returned by markdown->sxml.

[procedure] (markdown->html input)

Convenience procedure which calls markdown->sxml on input and serializes the resulting HTML document to (current-output-port).
